July 202019MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY INSIGHTSsystem designed to improve all aspects of its precision metal stamping. With an aim to simplify and streamline the quality management system, the company identifies, supports, and links customer-oriented processes to its own quality procedures and organizational chart. All processes are measured and maintained with the specific goal of exceeding the customers' expectations. Moreover, what makes the company second to none is its ability to provide, from the early stages of the design process, the best engineering support possible in response to the new ideas and requirements for new materials. "Our strategy is to stay focused on maintaining the highest level of quality while implementing new projects and lowering internal costs. We are also finalizing the implementation of a new ERP system to get a better analysis of our company," asserts Totoiu, who is an awarded scholar in mechanical engineering and a certified Six Sigma Black Belt by the American Society for Quality. Illustrating more on the proficiency of West Coast Metal Stamping, Totoiu cites a customer success story that involved an aerospace company. The aerospace company wanted to reduce the cost of a machine part by designing stem spark, which was complex and complicated. West Coast Metal Stamping came on board and worked with the customer to understand the crux of the matter. The engineering department designed a tool to produce that part and improved manufacturability and inspection of the parts. "I have worked with the engineering department to create a product that has never been rejected in 10 years," mentions Totoiu. With a strong value proposition in place, West Coast Metal Stamping believes that the key to success is to stay focused on enhancing the metal stamping process. Also, the company is currently exploring different tools to work faster and minimize costs. On the other hand, the full implementation of the new ERP system will make management decisions much quicker. Dan Totoiu
