NOVEMBER 20186 MANUFACTURINGTECHNOLOGYINSIGHTS The rise of industrial robotics has increased tenfold in the last four decades, since the year 1962, when the first industrial robot entered a manufacturing plant. The reason behind this expansion is multifold, ranging from the need to produce goods in minimum time to meeting customer demands at an accelerated rate. The evolution of industry 4.0 has now revolutionized the growth of automation and robotics. According to a report by the International Federation of Robots, these machines will be employed extensively in factories by 2019 and the number of industrial robots in operation will increase to 1.8 million units by 2025 in China. Interestingly, the same report also sheds light on the production of robots, which is expected to drop their manufacturing cost. Manufacturers have begun to deploy smart sensors using Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) that allows them to access the data which previously was either overlooked or inaccessible. This approach allows factory owners to monitor and track the productivity of the plant's employees, understand customer behavior, and make necessary changes accordingly. Robotics has even made its way into the supply chain of manufacturing firms in form of self-driving cars. These automatic vehicles not only reduce the labor cost but also provide valuable data about products and their delivery to the manufacturers. However, robotics is not just confined to automating the factory processes, as the technology has also generated new jobs in the market, contrary to the common belief that robotics and automation will take up most of the jobs. Manufacturing firms are on forage of experienced and trained robotics operators to help the factory manage its entire robotics workforce. On the same note, in this edition of Manufacturing Technology Insights, we explore robotics solutions and services in the manufacturing space to help factory owners find the exact solution for their problems. With a hope to assist manufacturing industry decision makers in their business endeavours, our team has hand-picked a list of best-in-industry companies that are at the forefront of tackling present-day manufacturing related challenges through robotics.Do let us know your thoughtsRobotics Automation Accelerating ProductivityEditorialCopyright © 2018 ValleyMedia, Inc.
