AAP’s design is highly improved over the standard egg carton in many aspects. The main improvement is our one-piece molded tray component, partnered with a paper lid component. The paper card is set up to slide along the top of the molded tray, and lock in place to hold the eggs secure. To open the tray, all one has to do is lift the card back over the locking tabs. AAP’s tray also has a high compressive strength, and includes “crush spaces” in the sidewalls and bottom, which protect the eggs from any sudden impact. AAP’s lid design also includes a self-dispensing feature, where the consumer can simply slide the lid back one row, and dispense the egg into their hand. This allows the consumer to easily remove an egg, without the frustration of potentially breaking one.

APP’s egg tray is also environmentally friendly, with significantly less plastic used than the traditional egg cartons of this application. The plastic tray is made out of recycled PET. Furthermore, the two-component nature allows the paper card and plastic tray to be separated entirely. This makes for easy recycling down the road. However, AAP’s intentions are that the product has more life than just being recycled, as it is highly reusable. Once the card is separated, the tray can be washed out and put back together again. This opens up the market for consumers (such as hobby farms) to fit their own custom cards in the tray for their own personal use.
