Robust Machine Vision for Automated Workflow

Machine vision replaces manual measurements and assessment with computerized, imaging-based automatic analysis and inspection to streamline workflow. Since its inception, machine vision technologies have escalated quality assurance, reducing wastage and increasing pace at work. Owing to the benefits it provides for companies, the demand for machine vision is increasing with the current CAGR of 9.1 percent and its market value is likely to reach $12.5 Billion by 2020, suggests a recent study by MarketsandMarkets. Contributing to this trend is a Eugene based Datalogic that develops and delivers seamless automation through high performance reliable machine vision solutions which benefit enterprises both from performance and price point perspective. “Datalogic is focused on developing digital imaging technology that can identify items by detecting a bar code or by using image processing according to market needs,” describes Pietro Todescato, CEO and President, Datalogic ADC.

Datalogic’s machine vision products include Vision Sensors, Smart Cameras, and Vision Processors. For machine vision solutions and software support, the company has also designed cameras and variable data printing solutions. Both machine data software and products designed by the firm aim to enhance production speed adding efficiency and stability.

The Datalogic Vision Sensor, DataVS2 enables inspection in a simple and sensitive manner. The DataVS2 when integrated in computers through Ethernet, it is available in four versions namely, Object recognition (OBJ), Advanced Object recognition (AOR), Identification (ID), and Professional (PRO). Datalogic’s monitoring device VSM (Vision Sensor Monitor) can be complemented for comprehensive images and reports in complex circumstances. DataVS2 facilitates wide range of controls in one model to serve different criteria and entrepreneur expectations.

Additionally, the smart cameras offered in three ranges namely P-Series, A-Series, and T-Series. With two different resolutions, VGA and1.3MP, the P-Series serves as a fully embedded stand-alone ultra-compact smart camera featured with advanced machine vision functionalities. P-Series has five focal length and nine lighting options, together composing 90 options for superior image result. For severe industrial environments, Datalogic recommends the use of A-Series, as a unique, general purpose camera range.

IMPACT offers customers in factory automation, transportation, and logistics with the ability to increase their production accuracy

The T-Series, is the company’s high performance smart camera series that is also delivered with 3 resolutions—VGA, 2 MP, and 5 MP.

Furthermore, Datalogic’s highest performance image processing—MX-Series Vision Processors is bestowed with multi camera support adjustable as per application needs. The offering has three models—MX20, MX40, and MX80. Being nearly 15 percent faster than these is the MX-E series which can be integrated with GigE vision processors and IMPACT Software. MX-E series delivers application flexibility and advanced computing powers. Especially for pharma, food and beverage and electronics, Datalogic designed its latest MX-U Series Vision Processors.

With its vast range of camera and processors, Datalogic serves IMPACT Software Suite to quickly and easily create user interfaces. The software usually comes with Software Development Kit (SDK) that adds machine vision monitoring capabilities into the HMI applications. For Optical Character Recognition, IMPACT+OCR is the first smart camera solution which is best suited for the food industry. “IMPACT offers customers in factory automation, transportation, and logistics the ability to increase their production accuracy,” adds Todescato.

The company has benefitted automation, healthcare, retail, and transportation companies with its solutions that remain on par with market trends and customer needs. Currently, Datalogic is planning to innovate the Matrix range of solutions to deliver the generation traceability solution. It’s looking at Data Entry Automation as the next prospective arena.
