Although there are numerous players in the elastomer industry, it’s worth highlighting when one company has been able to consistently provide top-quality elastomer solutions to a diverse customer base for over 60 years. Coming a long way from its onset as a manufacturer of toy wagon tires in 1951, Ebco prides itself on providing customized solutions to OEMs in the defense, power generation, agriculture, turf care, and construction industries.

Today, Ebco stands at the forefront of the industry, specializing in engineered vibration mounts, molded and extruded seals, and custom products – all of which are REACH and RoHS compliant. “On the front end, we provide comprehensive technical support tailored to meet our customers’ application requirements, and we continue to offer our capabilities and services at any stage of the design cycle. On the back end, we focus on continuously assuring product quality through our rigorous APQP process,” remarks Jamie Matesi, Lead Account Manager of Ebco.

At the core of Ebco’s product range is an expansive catalog of vibration isolators. Ebco’s experienced engineering team carries out extensive testing, modeling, and analysis to recommend the right mount to optimize vibration. With decades of experience, the Ebco team can recommend either off-the-shelf or customized isolators to meet installation constraints and achieve the targeted performance. These include fail-safe mounts that safeguard machines during the worst-case scenario, and a variety of plateform, center bonded, cylindrical, and shear mounts.

The company welcomes opportunities to demonstrate its expertise in this arena. For example, one customer came to Ebco faced with an impending failure of a competitor’s drum mount. The Ebco team analyzed the failing mount and developed a customized compound to improve the life and performance of the isolator. Comparative durability tests proved that the life of Ebco’s isolator was three times that of the competitor’s equivalent part.

Elaborating on the exceptional design and development elements of their products, Jamie explains, “We have an extensive set of resources that encompass all aspects of physical and material testing. We can model component and system performance through Multibody Dynamics Analysis and FEA; we can analyze elastomer composition through our DMA, TGA, and FTIR material testing machines; and have variety of load frames to complete static, dynamic, and life cycle testing.”

As with their isolators, Ebco has developed a wide-ranging library of extruded seals comprised of edge trims, bulb seals, and window channels. Used on buses, fire trucks, refrigerators, and operator cabins, Ebco’s seals can be customized with features such as molded corners, adhesives, and flocking. Further demonstrating Ebco’s ability to work with its customers on elastomer solutions is its final product offering: custom rubber parts. This broad category includes floormats, molded and extruded hoses, and smaller components including straps, latches, grommets, lever boots, and pedal pads.
The think-tanks at Ebco recently received a US patent for a specialized waffling design for the underside of floormats. The design, inspired from real-life feedback from end-users, improves ergonomic function and long-term durability. Ebco’s ability to collaborate with its customers has allowed Ebco to successfully assemble and maintain an enviable customer base. Furthermore, Ebco offers barcoding and customized labeling, EDI and web-based order fulfillment, returnable containers, and kitting. Ebco has also invested in 3D printing, allowing the company to quickly produce test fixtures, and work towards rapid prototyping.

On the geographic front, Ebco has recently opened a satellite office in Thailand, in addition to facilities in Ireland and China. “In line with our vision to address our growing customer needs, we will proactively scale our workforce and develop our in-house testing to provide reliable support to our valued customers,” concludes Jamie.
