Philippe Vaudeleau, CEO, FISA®Philippe Vaudeleau, CEO Paris-based FISA Group, a machinery manufacturer, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Since 1981, the company has provided custom-built ultrasonic cleaning and surface treatment machines for the medical sector. “We build machines that are utilized in mass production for medical devices,” states Philippe Vaudeleau, CEO of FISA Group.

The firm ensures that its machines are qualified for a dedicated process and meets all the specifications from the customers and the authorities since the medical industry is governed heavily by laws and regulations. The machines are fully automated and selfmaintained. The entire process is under control, and specific PLCs and computers can monitor it to ensure safe manufacturing of the medical devices, achieving the expected cleanliness while avoiding any cross-contamination. Throughout the machine’s lifecycle, FISA® scrutinizes its machines by performing an annual maintenance routine wherein its technicians visit and verify that a machine still meets its initial specifications. The company always maintains state-of-the art manufacturing standards and boasts of its machines’ longevity, typically lasting around 10-25 years. Machines are also customized and modular, allowing potential process modifications and upgrades.

“We invest a lot in engineering and manufacturing so that we fully integrate all the technologies that we ultimately sell to the market,” asserts Vaudeleau.

We are not just assembling pieces together as we take a huge amount of care into manufacturing machines, especially when it comes to the medical industry

FISA® makes ultrasonic transducers and generators ranging from 20,000 Hz to 120,000 Hz to ensure the best cleaning results.

The firm also manufactures robots to completely automate the machines and the software it utilizes to operate the machine and monitor the process. In fact, FISA® supplies a turnkey solution to clients looking for an integrated solution. “Our technicians will be assisting customers onsite to install their machines, finalize their IQ/OQ/PQ qualification and rapidly implement a new machine in production,” adds Vaudeleau. The fact that FISA® masters all the technologies that are implemented into its machines makes the machine itself highly reliable and consistent.

“We are not just putting pieces together as we take a huge amount of care into manufacturing the tanks as well as hydraulic pipes and connections for instance, especially when it comes to the medical industry,” says Vaudeleau.

There are a lot of players in the industry who are simply assembling instead of focusing on turnkey solutions like FISA®. Not to mention that today in the medical industry, there is a necessity to include other functionalities in the machines.

  • We want to be able to serve our customers around the planet no matter if they are multinational companies or domestic ones

It is not just about cleaning, but it is also about surface treatment.

Therefore, FISA® has further integrated process steps like passivation and anodization into its machines. Recently, FISA® has finalized the first generation of industry 4.0 software to enable customers to link machines to a network and establish communication and connectivity.

This allows clients to remotely check the status of the cleaning steps in either one or all their plants. In recent years, the firm has done successful R&D work on automation and robots’ system, to load and unload parts automatically, or control the machine via a smartphone using the machine’s own Wi-Fi.

Today, FISA® manufactures and sells its machinery throughout a network of subsidiaries located in major European countries like France, Spain, Italy, and Germany as well as the company serves the US, Canada and Mexico from its Chicago establishment since 2000. In 2016, FISA® added an establishment in Hong Kong to its network, to be present on this fast-growing market. “We want to be able to serve our customers around the planet no matter if they are multinational companies or domestic ones” concludes Vaudeleau.
