For example, Innoface collaborated with a company that manufactures products for automation and manufacturing. The customer faced a significant challenge when using PTC Windchill solely as a data repository for CAD designs. The designs lacked a clear definition of all product parts, relying on SAP as their parts management system. Once the product design was complete, they had to manually input all the data into their ERP system. This posed a significant hurdle.

Innoface addressed data synchronization of the master data, including material masters, bills of materials, and associated documents between Windchill and SAP. It further optimized the PTC Windchill system to streamline the client’s operations and proposed a data cleansing process that reduced redundancy and improved data quality. It devised a comprehensive plan with the client to transfer both part and master data from PTC Windchill to the SAP system.

For this client, Innoface installed and configured IFConneX to enable automatic synchronization of product data, bills of materials, and document data with their SAP system. It established bidirectional control between the two systems, allowing the design department to work on changes and reliably transfer change data to the ERP system when needed. As a result, data quality significantly improved, with no duplicate records in the systems. Data delivery to sourcing and production departments has become much faster, and managing changes has become more efficient.
