THANK YOU FOR SUBSCRIBING

Matteo Colautti, Sales ManagerYet, the industry’s sprint to meet market demands often means the device manufacturers need to make concessions by revising existing designs instead of pioneering breakthroughs. This recycling of ideas, while practical in the short term, ultimately constrains the exploration of these components’ full capabilities.
It’s a paradox of progress—in the quest for accelerating progress, it risks anchoring to the limitations of the past.

Enter Itacoil, a 40-year-old family-owned Italian company that stands out in this high-speed chase.
Instead of succumbing to the pressure of rapid production, Itacoil has doubled down on research and development, committing to produce high-efficiency custom magnetic transformers swiftly without sacrificing ingenuity. Its strategy hinges on close customer collaboration, empowered by its proprietary SPICE engine simulation and design software. This tool isn’t just another piece of tech but a gateway to precision in designing PCB transformers and inductors that are unparalleled in the market, at least for resonant transformers.
“We don’t just build transformers; we engineer solutions tailored to each client’s unique challenges and aspirations. Our clients receive a complete toolkit; thorough analysis, personalised guidance and steadfast support—from concept to completion,” says Matteo Colautti, sales manager.
The essence of Itacoil’s philosophy radiates through its diverse product line, which is as varied as the industries it serves. The portfolio spans from high-frequency transformers with ferrite cores adept at handling 1-3 KVA to robust mains transformers designed for 0.6A to 60VA, all the way to specialised signal conditioning transformers and precise voltage and current transformers.
The company’s pledge to efficiency manifests in its high-performance LLC and LCC Integrated Resonant transformers, boasting outputs up to 3 KVA. The proprietary SPICE engine software is a linchpin in this process, enabling rapid optimisation and design adjustments by precisely calculating power losses and relying on a comprehensive database of raw materials. In tandem, the R&D team’s thorough data-gathering process, coupled with rapid prototyping enabled by in-house tools and 3D printing technology and production facilities in China, with a hub in Hong Kong, significantly shortens the concept-to-market path, trimming development time and costs.
An example of Itacoil’s ability to optimise magnetic components was shrinking the size of a leading semiconductor company evaluation board by 56 percent while reducing cost and improving efficiency.
Beyond developing state-of-the-art products, the team is actively involved with the EN61558 standard’s CT96 committee of the Italian Electro-technical Committee (CEI).
This places them at the forefront, being aware of regulatory insights in advance and preparing for future enhancements in standards. Collaborating closely with leading semiconductor manufacturers, their advice on components is taken into consideration for the design of next-gen electrical devices.![]()

This forward-thinking approach is matched by a strong commitment to environmental stewardship. Itacoil recognises that sustainability is not a feature but a foundational element of modern business. By harnessing solar power for its operations and procuring certified green energy, it demonstrates a tangible commitment to renewable resources through production processes that are conscientiously designed.
Such a steadfast dedication to quality, innovation and sustainability has not only fueled Itacoil’s growth, but it has also solidified its financial stability, earning recognition as a ‘Cribis Prime Company’ by Dun & Bradstreet. This accolade is more than a badge of honour; it is a testament to the company’s longevity and reliability as a partner to lead the magnetics industry going forward.
