Whether selling an essential commodity or a luxury item, businesses need to ensure their products are packaged for maximum shelf appeal. After all, products with an eye-catching packaging design are more likely to be picked up by consumers. Studies show that shoppers who pick up a product are 1.5 times more likely to buy that product. But how can businesses with less money and time to invest in packaging innovation produce packaging with great shelf appeal quickly and economically?

Enter NAPCO Inc., a company that offers a broad range of creative custom boxes and presentation packaging services. Led by Rocky Proffit, an industry veteran involved in manufacturing custom packaging and boxes since 1977, NAPCO excels as a perfect packaging partner. Over the years, Proffit has led a strong team of creative design experts, building a state-of-the-art design and manufacturing infrastructure, leading to the acquisition of Vulcan Information Packaging in Vincent, Alabama, in 2017.

NAPCO delivers a wide range of high-quality, innovative packaging to companies across many industries in which shelf appeal and consumer experience is a key criterion for sales. Thanks to its granular focus on design aesthetics, client requirements, and timely delivery, NAPCO has a proven track record of designing, developing, and manufacturing attractive and cost-effective packaging at scale. "Our success march couldn't have been possible without our unique business blueprint of being a long-term, strategic partner rather than being a packaging vendor to our clients," says Proffit, CEO of NAPCO.

The company's digital print and finishing portfolio (Vulcan Information Packaging) includes high-quality digital print, multi-layered spot UV, and sculpted Foil capabilities. NAPCO's digital embellishment offerings can help companies drive the emotional response needed for today's packaging culture. While other packaging companies take weeks or months to create packaging samples, NAPCO can create several samples by combining multiple art files and different embellishments in a few days.

NAPCO's star attraction is its ability to create samples that are a replica of the final package that will come out of the manufacturing unit, not just a rough estimate of what the final product might look like. Consequently, the company's clients and their marketing teams make confident decisions on creative themes and scale their business quickly.

In a case study, one of NAPCO's clients had placed a tentative order of 280,000 on a particular rigid package created by NAPCO's Structural Engineering team. NAPCO then presented ten production-grade samples. After getting positive responses from their customers on the packaging, the client revised the order to more than 400,000.

In another instance, NAPCO raised the experience of a gaming event hosted by Activision Blizzard for its highly popular game Overwatch. Collaborative effort between NAPCO's Structural Engineering team and Activision led to an order of 32 personalized boxes for winners and stakeholders. There were 20 different art files and six different digital embellishments, including raised, textured, and sculpted UV, flat spot UV, and 3D foils. Along with Activision Blizzard, the stakeholders of the event were Circle K and Coca-Cola. NAPCO's collaborative efforts generated a sophisticated personalized package and completed the approval process with every stakeholder. NAPCO delivered the finished boxes in a matter of weeks.

  • "Our success march couldn't have been possible without our unique business blueprint of being a long-term, strategic partner rather than being a packaging vendor to our clients," says Proffit, CEO of NAPCO.

Such client success stories could not have been possible without a client-centric engagement strategy. NAPCO collaborates with top-level executives from the client-side to understand their vision and budget. The company has set a dedicated mechanism and teams to look after the design, development, and manufacturing.

Marching forward, NAPCO is looking to add new equipment and bring in automation for greater process efficiency. The company is also focused on training the internal staff on the new technologies to ensure maximum quality and continued excellence.
