Artificial Intelligence is Everywhere

Artificial Intelligence is Everywhere

Manufacturing Technology Insights | Monday, February 11, 2019

Artificial Intelligence seems to be in every sector and every industry. Sometimes explicitly like Chatbots and sometimes like an undercover agent who monitors our tasks; businesses are convinced with its offerings. AI will be a dominant source of wealth in the coming time for those industries that make the right commitments now.

• Artificial Intelligence (AI)

AI is the simulation of human intelligence for performing a number of processes by machines, more specifically the computer systems. This entire process includes the rules of learning the information and using them, reasoning it and deriving on a conclusion and self-correction as well. The quality of the data determines the reliability of the data. AI can be applied to pattern recognition, object classification, predictive modeling and for many other uses.

• Machine learning (ML)

It is a subset of AI that provides systems with the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience without being explicitly programmed. Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa are a few examples of how the technology is advancing and the ML that is taking place behind.

• Deep Learning

It is a subset of a broader family of machine learning methods that are based on learning data representations. The learning process can take place in any form- be it Human Supervised Learning, Unsupervised Learning or Reinforcement Learning.

• Autonomous Computing

It is a computing model in which the system is self-handled, self-configured, and self-managed; it is self-governing. Therefore, it can act according to situational data without human command. For instance, the autonomous vehicles use data in real time to successfully drive the car without human assistance.

• Augmented thinking

Augmentation refers to combining the best of AI and human capabilities. Soon this will be increasingly embedded at the chip level into objects, processes, products, and services, and humans will use this data to augment their problem solving and decision-making abilities with the insights of AI.

Technology is neither good nor its evil. All depends upon how humans make use of it. Though AI will take the place of many current jobs, but they will generate many job opportunities if people are ready to learn. AI is a promising technology, and as one seeks to develop from it, they have to be vigilant that they are making a better world.
