Acquisition to speed up business for Carbon and to let clients produce unique end-use parts at scale
FREMONT, CA: "Software is the backbone of our idea-to-production platform and we believe the generative design capabilities from ParaMatters are a key expansion of our design software. By expanding our software capabilities that are optimized for additive manufacturing we are empowering a generation of designers and developers to create better end use products with advanced geometries and improved performance characteristics." says Craig Carlson, Chief Technology Officer and member of the Office of the CEO.

Carbon is one of the leaders in 3D printing technology and acquired additive manufacturing software firm ParaMatters. This acquisition adds topology optimization to Carbon's present software capabilities. Carbon's technology platform now enables product design and development teams to create better products using a wide range of materials and production methods in less time.
"The ParaMatters team is proud of the software design tools we've built to advance additive manufacturing. The ability to expand our offering as a part of Carbon's idea-to-production platform will enable our customers to design and produce better products. As one team, we intend to move the manufacturing industry beyond its current roadblocks." says Robert Yusin, Chairman & CEO at ParaMatters.
Most product design and manufacturing software systems are geared to limits imposed by conventional production techniques, such as injection molding, casting, and subtractive procedures. The lack of current design software that can rapidly iterate and leverage the benefits of additive printing continues to impede the product development lifecycle. Carbon introduced Design EngineTM earlier this year, which significant companies utilize to automate the process of producing latticed parts for production. This acquisition fills this void and broadens the capabilities of Carbon's generative design tools to enable enhanced automation and the generation of more sophisticated, high-performance part designs.
