The new radio wave-based measurement technology monitors the state of any liquid in industrial operations, from thick slurries, paint, adhesives, beer, water, and many more.
FREMONT, CA: A new radio wave-powered analysis technology, designed by the Finnish high-tech firm Collo, makes it possible to continuously monitor the state of any liquid in industrial operations, be it thick slurries, resins, adhesives, coatings, emulsion, beer, water or any other fluid. Collo’s technology is powered by an electromagnetic resonator that emits a radiofrequency field into the liquid. The signal reacts to interferences caused by various components, chemicals and phases in the liquid. The analyzer immediately alarms if the process is disturbed in any way so that the process can be adjusted according to the online data.

The analyzer monitors the process constantly, compared to manual samples that offer a delayed snapshot of the process status at a given time. The benefit of real-time monitoring is that it takes away the guesswork when managing the process, which can save a lot of chemicals, materials, energy and time. Collo Analyzer measures eight proprietary parameters from a liquid, which together form the liquid’s fingerprint. If these features are changed during processing, the analyzer shows the changes so that corrective measures can be made immediately.
Unlike generic measurement techniques, Collo doesn’t just gauge the liquids but combines data with sophisticated analytics, offering actionable data for improved process performance. For optimal outcome, analytics are adjusted for liquid application. Once adjusted, the same system can be repeated in similar processes. This is beneficial for customers with a vast number of identical liquid processes, as they can achieve significant economies of scale with Collo. The analyzer is low-maintenance since the sensor is not sensitive to dirt, and cleaning is not needed. As Collo’s technology displays real-time measurements, it is possible to continuously adjust it according to the results.
When using Collo Analyzer, one can see when the liquid has the right properties and required adjustments. This way, the productivity gets an acceleration, and the use of energy and materials is decreased, while at the same timeless waste is generated. The final product is much less vulnerable to complaints because of quality issues.
