Summary: Ewellix has developed an advanced electromechanical actuator in demanding applications such as agricultural and construction machinery.
FREMONT, CA: Smart actuators are used in industrial settings for applications that require maximum controllability and connectivity, such as material handling, intermittent load management, robotics, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and synchronized load management. Ewellix has created an innovative electromechanical actuator for use in demanding applications such as agricultural and construction machinery. Compared to previous models, the CAHB-2xS smart actuator includes four new or enhanced features: in-control, precise position sensors, built-in monitoring/diagnostics, and communication. Additionally, it features a standard MTTF (mean time to failure) of 75 years.

“The CAHB-2xS adds smart control functions, sensors and communication to equipment and machinery, says François Ducourant, Business Development Manager at Ewellix. “It’s the first in a family of new products that are part of the Ewellix SmartX digital platform to help customers in their journey towards digitalization.”
Patented non-contact sensors provide the true absolute position of movement that never requires calibration. At the same time, motion is continuously monitored with the option to synchronize multiple actuators to provide parallel motion even at full speed. Additionally, the CAHB-2xS monitors its condition and can transmit an error code if it performs incorrectly.
The new SmartX digital platform, in conjunction with the CAHB-2xS series' most powerful actuator, the CAHB-22S—equipped with a ballscrew—is capable of delivering a push and pulling a load of up to 10,000 N. This configuration maximizes efficiency, lowering energy consumption and making it ideal for applications such as battery-powered vehicles, where it can help extend the range and shorten recharge times.
