The Desktop 3D Hologram Printer from LitiHolo creates genuine holograms that can be displayed without headsets or glasses, providing a unique 3D viewing experience that can be easily shared and viewed with others. Users can also print hologram portraits and 3D computer graphics scenarios that can be presented as real three-dimensional holograms.
Multiple perspective images, captured from a camera, video footage, or made from a traditional 3D graphics design, are sliced into unique recordings for every individual pixel on the hologram, termed as "hogel" or "hologram feature," with the help of Desktop 3D Hologram Printer. The printer then uses laser light to encrypt the hogel information onto the unique hologram film optically. When finished, the hologram reconstructs several different viewpoints as if the 3D image were present, allowing users to look around the image and see multiple angles from all sides, even from above and below.
LitiHolo is using Kickstarter to help spread the word about its Desktop 3D Hologram Printer. The Kickstarter campaign, which runs until April 2nd, will fund LitiHolo's acquisition of large-scale parts and develop the first run of Desktop 3D Hologram Printers, which will retail for $1,600 MSRP.
Many interested in supporting LitiHolo and purchasing a Desktop 3D Hologram Printer can do so through Kickstarter at different levels of funding and price points. LitiHolo self-developing film plates (20 pack of 2"x3" and 6-pack of 4"x5") and optional add-ons like a hologram monitor and additional film are included with each reward level.
"Holography has evolved a great deal in the 60 years since its introduction and we view our Desktop 3D Hologram Printer as an important next step in bringing this technology to the masses," said Paul Christie, LitiHolo CEO and MIT Media Lab alumni. "For the first time, the power to create true holograms will be accessible to anyone with one of our printers, which opens up a whole new world of hologram possibilities."
