Red Meters transcends the confines of the static instrument space with the release of innovative software.
FREMONT, CA: With the announcement of their innovative software release, Cinder, Red Meters transcends the confines of the static instrument space. Cinder is part of the technology of Red Meters industrial measurement systems. The systems are utilized to measure slurries' density and mass flow within the mining, dredging, oil and gas, and other industrial operations. Deployed by leading companies around the globe, the systems empower engineers with data that allows process control. The technology ecosystem has physical and electronic components and front and back-end software and data science. Cinder is the middle layer of the ecosystem and the cornerstone for future Red Meters products.

The team found a gap in the market, particularly around software interfaces, which directly affect the experience of the engineers using them. The team conducted extensive research on platforms presently available to process engineers, finding them to be old-fashioned, underpowered, and complex to use. Cinder was developing using Material Design and web technologies, or software people use every day. Steered by some hours of whiteboard sessions, followed by several rounds of user observation trials, the team created an intuitive, beautiful, and seamless to use interface which needs little, if any, training to use.
The priority of Cinder is customization. It was tailored for engineers to tweak the interface for their requirements. Comprised is a View Builder, which presents the process data engineers need in the format they deem most effective.
When the company is focused on selling density meters, it is just establishing density-based off on a volumetric measurement and a weight measurement and then utilizing the other ancillary information internally in the system. The reality is that there are also helpful datasets for its clients and its prospective clients. The release of Cinder offers precisely that. The question becomes how to market a path-breaking solution in a space commonly viewed with some skepticism.
