Solvay’s AjediumTM Build Additive Manufacturing sheets are becoming the leading provider of tailored AM solutions for high-performance specialty polymer applications.
FREMONT, CA: Additive manufacturing is a powerful force, bringing new applications and markets into focus. The capacity to create flexibly with reduced logistics is driving the rise in popularity of additive manufacturing. Solvay is launching a new portfolio of additive manufacturing (AM) build sheets under the AjediumTM brand. Build sheets, or plates are basic surfaces on which extruded AM filament layers are constructed or 3D printed in additive manufacturing methods.

AjediumT Build Sheets are available from Solvay in a variety of configurations and can be made from a variety of high-performance polymers, including Udel PSU, Radel PPSU, and KetaSpire PEEK. They have exceptional rigidity and flatness, as well as durability, thermal resistance, and adherence. Designers can choose the build sheet that is most compatible with their printing material and printer temperature chamber from a wide range of options, with the assurance that the sheet will not warp or fracture during printing. In addition, the surface can be coated to improve the adherence of printed pieces even further.
Solvay's AjediumT Build Sheets can be utilized with 3D printers for fused deposition modelling (FDM), including vacuum and non-vacuum technologies. They are available with adhesive backing to protect the building surface and avoid faults during the printing process and may be modified to any thickness and size to fit the unique dimensions of different 3D printers.
“Ajedium Build Sheets are a natural extension of our proven high-performance Ajedium solutions for critical applications in markets from Aerospace and Automotive to Energy, Electrical and Electronics, Healthcare and Industrial,” states Rodolfo Patricio, Aerospace & Defense Marketing Manager at Solvay. “At the same time, they complement our portfolio of Radel PPSU, KetaSpire PEEK, Solef PVDF filaments and new material solutions for additive manufacturing.”
Solvay's new AjediumT Build Sheets support the company's goal of being the industry's leading provider of tailored AM solutions for high-performance specialty polymer applications. Materials, method, and design are the three pillars that support the strategy. Solvay offers a growing selection of AM-ready filaments and powder materials. Solvay has been working on the Solvay printer evaluation program (S-PEP) and relationships with key equipment providers to develop AM processes. In terms of design, Solvay collaborated with Digimat by e-Xstream, a simulation software database that allows clients to predict and optimize their components in order to ‘print properly the first time,' as well as hosting the Solvay AM Cup competition for promising design and engineering students.
