Tecogen announces the sale of an InVerde e+ cogeneration system to a large residential building under construction.

FREMONT, CA: Tecogen, a clean energy company offering ultra-efficient and clean onsite power, heating, and cooling equipment, announces the sale of an InVerde e+ cogeneration system to a large residential building under construction in Brooklyn, New York.  The system will offer 125 kW of onsite power for the building with the cogenerated heat leveraged for domestic hot water for residents. Once the InVerde e+ cogeneration system is deployed, it will be serviced from Tecogens Brooklyn, NY, service center.

Engineering the InVerde e+ into the building design is the most cost-effective method to incorporate the system's energy savings and resiliency.  In this instance, the building will be seeking a LEED Silver sustainability rating, and Tecogen worked closely with the buildings engineering team to scale the energy savings and greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions from the cogeneration system, which are essential factors in getting the LEED certification.

The InVerde e+ offers significant GHG reductions compared to power gained from the grid and hot water from a usual boiler.  It is hoped that this building will mitigate its GHG footprint over 170 metric tons/year, enabling the building to avoid substantial fines that may be assessed on buildings that fail to meet prescribed GHG reduction objectives under New York City Local Law 97, which needs GHG reductions of 25 percent by 2024 and 40 percent by 2030.

The project developer and engineering section involved with this project previously deployed a Tecogen cogeneration system in a residential building in New York that has been performing as expected for over three years, resulting in a forecasted GHG reduction of 400 metric tons in addition to significant energy cost savings. The InVerde cogeneration system provides buildings like these significant economic and environmental advantages and the added benefit of resiliency to grid outages.

Tecogen designs, manufactures, sells, deploys, and maintains high efficiency, ultra-clean, cogeneration products comprising combined heat and power, air conditioning systems, and water heaters for residential, commercial, recreational, and industrial use. The firm offers cost-efficient, environmentally friendly, and reliable products for energy production that, through patented technology, nearly eliminate criteria pollutants and mitigate a customer's carbon footprint.
