The Increasing Market Demand for Autonomous Vehicles

By Manufacturing Technology Insights | Tuesday, April 09, 2019

The automotive industry has demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt to changing times. Although manufacturers have emerged and left in the last century, the industry has focused on creating cars that meet consumer needs. Drivers now have more choices than ever before about vehicle types and add-on luxuries. Fuel-efficient and sustainable automobiles are popular, and popularity is rising with self-directed vehicles and those with Internet-connected services. People today prefer to use a fully autonomous vehicle because they believe it is safer than a traditional vehicle. The global market for high-tech vehicle components is expected to grow exponentially in the coming years.

Kia Motors Corporation is an automaker producing and selling passenger cars, recreational vehicles, and commercial vehicles. As Kia Motors India started testing production at its new Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh, the car manufacturer also showcased the SP2i compact SUV near-production specifications. This new offering will be the first product to be launched by the South Korean car maker in India in the second half of 2019. The SP2i is the compact SUV's internal name, while the name of the production will be revealed later this year.

The Kia SP2i will be a rival of Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass by sharing its underpinnings with the former.  The model will also be placed above Crete at a premium, so it can be expected to be a better list of equipment. Information about the features on the power figures and engines will be available during the time of launch. In addition to manual and automatic transmissions, both petrol and diesel options are expected. The SP2i looks visibly prominent, but it is going to be a five-seater offer.

The first car to be manufactured at the Kia Anantapur plant will be the Kia SP2i compact SUV, which will be followed by four to five new launches spread over the next two and a half years. Also in India, electric vehicles are in the pipeline for Kia, and the current facility can produce the same without any changes.
