Direct evaporative cooling system
Direct evaporative systems are the easiest and most common way to cool a room. They lower the temperature of the air with a process that evaporates water and makes the air more humid. When hot air moves over water-soaked evaporative cooling pads, evaporation occurs, and the air temperature drops significantly. This cooled air is then sent to different parts of the industrial building to get the desired temperature. Direct evaporative cooling systems can be used in all climates but work best in hot, dry climates. They work especially well in places that need to get rid of a lot of heat. An indirect evaporative cooling system may work better if your industrial building is in a place with more humidity.
Indirect evaporative cooling system
Evaporation is also used in indirect evaporative cooling systems to cool the air temperature. But indirect systems keep the water used to cool the air away from the airflow so that evaporation can happen in a heat exchanger. Commercial systems that use indirect evaporative cooling use hot air from outside sent through a heat exchanger with a bunch of tubes whose outsides are kept wet. The air is pumped back into the building to reach the desired temperature. This process cools the air inside the tubes without making the air any more humid. Indirect systems work very well in industrial settings that are medium to large.
Hybrid evaporative cooling systems
Hybrid systems are the most advanced way to cool warehouses, distribution centers, or industrial buildings with evaporative cooling. Hybrid commercial evaporative coolers use less energy than traditional air conditioning, just like the other two systems. Industrial evaporative cooling systems called "hybrids" combine indirect cooling with a second stage of direct cooling. The indirect stage will make the air cooler without making it more humid. The air is cooled a second time using the direct method, adding more water to the air. During the first stage, hot air from outside is pulled through a heat exchanger, where it cools the tubes by evaporation. In the second stage, the heat exchanger's air moves through wet evaporative media to cool it even more.
