Teledyne Expands Its Emerald family of CMOS Image Sensors with a 5 Megapixel Device

Teledyne e2v, a Chelmsford, United Kingdom-based Technology Company that designs, develops, and manufactures solutions and equipment for industries like healthcare, life sciences, space, transportation, defense, and the industrial market has expanded its Emerald family of CMOS image sensors with a 5 Megapixel device.

The expansion of the Emerald is can facilitate machine vision, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), and factory automation applications, which require higher resolution images for objects in motion, with little or no distortion. The Emerald 5M can be availed in monochrome as well as color with a small 1/1.8 inch optical format, containing a 2.8 μm, low-noise, global shutter pixel, and arranged in a 2,560 x 1,936 array. The device can stream videos at 50 fps and 10 bits, over a four wire, MIPI CSI-2 interface. The innovative design of the Emerald 5M also enables fast, wide-range operation and includes powerful, unique patented features and region of interest modes.

The Emerald 5M is optimized for machine vision applications, which includes 5° Chief Ray Angle compensation, a ruggedized CLGA® package with a thickness of only 1.19 mm. It also offers the necessary flexibility to research and development engineers with its global shutter and MIPI CSI-2 interface. It allows R&D engineers to utilize the latest Image Signal Processors (ISP) available for mobile applications. The device is also embedded with digital functionalities like multi-region of interest, subsampling, auto exposure at first frame, single frame HDR and on-chip statistics, helping engineers to reduce processor load and hasten time-to-market.
