Companies Maximize Investments In Traditional Enterprise Systems

Nicholas R. Colisto

Technology Trends Impacting Enterprise Business Environment

Truly innovative companies are maximizing their investments in traditional enterprise systems by mobilizing the user experience with the systems. This is an exciting trend, but fraught with challenges as CIOs strive to secure confidential data, control costs, and provides support.

An effective way to address the challenges is to create a group within IT that is responsible for developing policies and standards for mobile development. The group can build mobile applications for other development teams or educate other teams on best practices. Since many organizations do not have many skilled resources with mobile software development, the centralized group can assist with lining up strategic partners so that projects can be outsourced, but carefully controlled to ensure coding standards and security practices are addressed.
