Complexity, Like Big Data, Is Good!

Filippo Passerini

Overcoming challenges to make job easier

I would characterize complexity as the beast to tame. Every time we make an intervention – like introducing a new technology or reinventing our business model – our desire is always to simplify while staying relevant to the business and creating value.

Complexity is everywhere. We live in a VUCA world – a world that is increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous. Some complexity, like big data, is good. But what we’re seeing is more qualitative information, coming at us more quickly.

The challenge is making sense out of it and quickly translating what could potentially be an issue into an opportunity. It is critical that we reconcile this complexity with the fundamental, desired needs of our consumers, and analytics can be a powerful connector.
