Technology Trends Impacting Enterprise Business Environment

One of the major shifts we are seeing at Alcoa is the increased ability to correlate massive amounts of data from our manufacturing processes with our business information systems, such as our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. As part of this “Smart Manufacturing” system, we use enhanced data analysis and visualization tools to arm our employees with easily understandable, real-time data to facilitate better decision making. This allows us to go beyond optimizing individual production centers to running our manufacturing operations end to end. This will enable immense productivity improvements and enhance decision-making capabilities from the shop floor to the executive suite.
