The future of IT is focused on getting back to the basic fundamentals. We are still writing code like we did 50 years ago. As a company, we need to take advantage of BIG data and other data integration mechanisms to optimize quality and to compare analytics globally in our plants and manufacturing process. It is really macro (not micro) optimization and a high level of innovation that will determine our success. We need to remember that we are in the “people business”, after all. We can identify and define processes to compare data to make solid business decisions but the development of our people is also critical. There isn’t an IT silver bullet for success. Relying on IT fundamentals and focusing on new data integration mechanisms will allow us to better support our business customers today and tomorrow.
